Bravo to some sensible breastfeeding advice! From NSW Health?

We visited our local hospital today for a final recap on my 9 year old son’s recent fainting for no reason episode. Still no real reason but we did find out that he doesn’t have epilepsy and he does have a defective heart valve- it doesn’t explain why he passed out in class and it won’t affect him until he is much older, but good to know none the less.

Apart from my son’s anatomical discrepancy yet otherwise clean bill of health- there were two points of interest for me in this visit. The first- Breastfeeding promotion in our hospitals rock now days. The second- Infection control is insane.

What? We won? Woo hoo!!

woo hoo
This is a stock image. I don’t look that good in a dress and my office is no where near that tidy. I would also have a child hanging off each leg and a there would be a baby trying to climb up the desk.

I can’t tell you how surprised and excited I was last night to sit down at my computer to find my blog listed as the winner of the Connect2Mums ‘ausMumpreneur Awards’ Blog Award Category. Thrilled would be an understatement and seriously surprising given the amazing standard of all of the finalists.

Now I feel a bit guilty that I haven’t been posting so much over the last month. With birthday week, a run of end of winter colds going through the family and a mysterious faint by my 9 year old at school, I’ve found myself neglecting my little blog.

I’ll be blogging now with renewed vigour, I have loved writing the posts so far and there is nothing more motivating for me than a pat on the back and the knowledge that someone out there likes what I’m doing.

So…Thank you Paula from Connect2Mums for supporting and encouraging the Aussie Mumpreneurs, thank you to the judges for liking what you see here and thank you to those who saw this blog as worthy of a vote the in the ‘People’s Choice’ award.

I’m really, really looking forward to our launch with the #blogblessing give-away and sharing many new posts soon. Cheers!

P.S Thanks to Andrew for designing and maintaining The NaturalTransition blog.

We have just finished with birthday buzz a plenty in our house. Despite the fact that our children were conceived on nothing more than a twinkle in the eye and vague thoughts about how nice it would be to have a baby- we’ve found ourselves with 3 beautiful boys, all with birthdays in the same week. The eldest is the 8th, the middle is the 10th and the youngest fit himself into the pattern and was born on the 12th- even though he came 9 days past his due date and while I was horridly sick with the flu. Even our chickens get some birthday action that week. My eldest son marked the 9th as pet chickens birthday. So we have had one huge week of celebration. I am so over cake (both making and eating).

All of this birthday buzz has had me in a reflective mood. This time last year… this time 7 years ago… this time 9 years ago- I was pregnant. I was so heavily pregnant and felt so desperately ready to bring these babies into the world. Just like my three beautiful boys, each birth was so unique and none of them without drama. I am planning on sharing my birth stories soon, but before that, I have a blog to launch 🙂

This year, I am heavily pregnant again.. this time with a different sort of baby. My website’s little sister, my blog. Just like this time last year, I am desperately ready to bring this baby into the world. It’s time to give it life and watch it breath on it’s own.
