First Trimester Yoga

Yoga practice for the first trimester of pregnancy

Please read the following safety information before you begin your yoga practice.

If you are in your first trimester and are still experiencing fatigue, nausea and dizziness, it is best to wait until these subside before beginning this exercise program.

If you have any of the following conditions, you should not practice this program: pregnancy-induced hypertension, pre-term labor, pre-term leaking of amniotic fluid, history of miscarriage, cervical insufficiency, persistent second or third trimester bleeding, or low weight for age of baby.

If you have any of the following signs or symptoms, immediately stop the exercise program and consult your doctor: absent fetal movement, back pain, difficulty walking, dizziness, faintness, pain not related to workout discomfort, heart palpitations, pubic pain, shortness of breath, rapid heartbeat, uterine contractions, vaginal bleeding or fluid loss.

Each individual is different, so you should consult with your doctor before undertaking and while progressing through this program. Neither this exercise program nor any other exercise program should be used as a substitute for professional medical care and/or treatment.
